Can't connect with my wireless after ubuntu installation

Hello,

I finally decided to get rid of microsoft windows definitely. I formatted my hard disk and installed ubuntu. And it works very well.

The only problem I have is that I have no longer access to internet. I have a wireless connection. When I check the hardware drivers it recognises the wireless but when I click to enable it it does not work.

I saw on different forums that it might be in relation with the wireless driver and tried to do something myself but my knowledge of IT is quiet limited. Could you please let me know what I have to do or if there is any specialised shop in Copenhagen where I can get help from?

The wireless I have in my computer is a broadcom BCM 4311 (airforce 54g) 802.11A

Hi trinaxia, and welcome to forum.

I can see that your computer does only have a 802.11a WAN network adapter - that could be a problem if for example it try to connect to a 802.11g network, which uses different signal encodings dependent on signal quality.

You have only one possible solutions:

Buy a new WAN adapter. 802.11a network operate using the 5 GHz frequency-band, but 80.11b/g uses the heavily overcrowded 2,4 GHz frequency-band (Bluetooth, Zigbee, Z-wave, and WAN=802.11b/g operates within the 2,4 GHz frequency-band.)
